“We can make the world a better place . . .
one love note at a time.”
LoveNotes! Real Stories. Real People. Real Love—a multimedia storytelling extravaganza—was born from deep heartbreak and undying hope.
After my marriage ended and my heart was broken in New York City, I needed to know that love was still real, and so I searched for it in others’ stories. The urge to hold that evidence up as a light for others to see was strong—and from it, the LoveNotes! project was born—real stories by real people about real love.
What LoveNotes! Is All About
Love is what makes us human, yet it remains the most confounding mystery of all. Through others’ stories, I discovered that love can be beautiful, magical, messy, elusive, even painful—and still the most powerful, healing, and connective force in the universe.
At its heart, LoveNotes! is a storytelling platform that celebrates that force.
The foundation is our annual All-Star Off-Broadway show each February in Manhattan, surrounded by touring satellite productions in cities like Indianapolis, South Central PA, and Reading, PA—with more to come.
Our award-winning LoveNotes! anthologies and soon-to-launch podcast continue the exploration—across the page and the airwaves.
The LoveNotes! Mission
Our mission is simple: to find and share evidence of what romantic love looks like as it walks around in the world.
Through true, first-person storytelling across stage, page, and podcast, we aim to create connection, foster community, and remind one another that love—in all its forms—endures.
Share Your Story ❤️
Calling all poets, lovers, and dreamers—anyone who has ever been struck by Cupid’s arrow and lived to tell the tale.
LoveNotes! is seeking true stories of romantic love in all its forms:
first love, last love, forever love, unrequited love, second-time-around love, the one that got away—and everything in between.
Stories must be true, first-person, and 750 words or fewer, capturing a defining moment or emotional truth.
Whether your story belongs on the stage, the page, or the podcast, we’d love to hear it.

LoveNotes! Real Stories. Real People. Real Love., 2nd Edition – Again, I’m looking for stories of first love, last love, forever love, unrequited love, the against-all-odds love, gay love, trans love, the one-that-got-away love, happily-ever-after love, unexpressed love, if-I-could-do-it-again love, online love, arranged marriage love, worst date-ever love, friends-to-lovers love, never-ending love, oops!-that-was-a-mistake love, second-time-around love, and on and on.
LoveNotes! Heartbreak Survival Guide – Stories to mend a broken heart. Tales of hope & healing after disappointment, divorce, and death to give others a blueprint on how to may it through.
LoveNotes! Dating Diary – Stories of your first dates, last dates, disaster dates, online dates, blind dates–your stories of inspiration and intestinal fortitude to help others navigate the dating world.
LoveNotes! How We Met – Stories of how you met THE ONE.
You get the idea—any story about romantic love in any of its incarnations. No stories about how much you love your mom, kid, teacher, etc. The best stories are ones in which a single moment is explored that illustrates a larger message (hope, heartbreak, tenderness, fear, etc). In other words, have some action in your submission, not just exposition.
Ultimately, a LoveNotes! story is the kind of yarn in which Cupid has shot someone in the heart. This time there are three requirements:
- Your story must be true.
- Your story must be 1000 words or fewer.
- Submission as a Word Document (double-spaced, header: Last Name, First Name, page # top right)
