Heather Christie’s Blog
Thanks for stopping by to check out my blog. Sit down, grab a cup of tea, and browse around. Each quarter (January, April, July, and October) I try to write a new post and share a little piece of my life.
My two teenage kids take up a lot of space on the page. But I also love to write about my attempt to lead a healthy, mindful, and purpose-driven life, and what it’s like to start over in New York City and chase a dream at middle age. And lots more.
While it’s a blast when a big website re-syndicates one of my posts, my real goal is to write in a such a way that compels you pop back again and again to read my stories. I love it when you like, comment, or share a post. And when you subscribe to my email list it makes me happy. Thanks.
Xoxo,
Heather

The Most Important Lesson Of My Childhood
I love chewing gum. And on occasion, I have set my morals aside to get my hands on some. When I was five years old, we lived in a quiet (almost no people) town on the eastern shore of Maryland. There wasn’t much to do. So whenever family visited from Pennsylvania, my...
We Have A Dinner Guest: Amy Impellizzeri
Fate threw Amy Impellizzeri and I together several years ago when she relocated to Pennsylvania and I was her realtor. At the time, little did we know that we were both closet writers. I am excited to share her success with you and to have her guest blog today! Amy is...
How To Make Your Kid Crazy (for real)
Every mother thinks that her child is the most beautiful kid in the world, right? I am no different. And I as a young mom, I aimed to prove it. My plan was for my son to be a model and then a child star. I figured he could rake in the big bucks and save enough money...
Take A Walk On The Dark Side
It’s said that the worst fate for a writer is to be burdened with a happy childhood. In my memories, the sun is always shining. The snow is pure white and the perfect consistency with which to build a snowman. My parents don’t yell or scream. The whole family eats a...
Who Do You Want To Be When You Grow Up?
When you ask a child “Who do you want to be when you grow up?” she most likely responds with alacrity. A rockstar. A doctor. An US National Team soccer player. A super hero. A vet. Children slid with ease into who they want to be. They play make-believe in the back...
A Typical Day At The Office – It’s Not!
We all have to make a living. Really, must I? My preference is to write and to read. But the children insist on eating. And they can’t go naked. Plus, I’m not that good on a bicycle. Enter real estate. Sometimes I moan and complain about being a Realtor, sure that I...
Three Ways To Keep A Teenager Alive
One time when my son was a toddler, he accompanied me on a tour of an open house. Within minutes he found the fireplace. Awestruck he stared at the roaring flames and time slowed as I watched him stretch his small fingers toward the hot glass screen. “Don’t touch,” I...
Did You Laugh Today?
The Sunday Dinner Blog Food For Thought: Did You Laugh Today? Bob Dylan sings, “The answer my friend is blowin’ in the wind, the answer is blowin’ in the wind.” You might discover something else blowing in the wind if you find yourself in southern Berks County, PA...
Am I A Sleaze?
If I’m not writing, I’m selling real estate. Sometimes, when I reveal this to my artsy writer friends, I get a look of surprise or outright disbelief. My profession’s reputation precedes me. It’s no secret that a real estate makes the list of the Twenty Sleaziest Ways...
